Sunday Shoe Porn

The Christian Louboutin exhibition is on at the Design Museum in Shadwell, so I went down to check it out. I wasn’t disappointed.

The exhibition celebrates 20 years of Louboutin’s career in shoe design. Red soles here we come!

The theme of the exhibition is showgirl, which stems from being one of his earliest inspirations as we learn from working in showgirl clubs. Plus a circus theme, with carousels covered in bold lights and instead of horses, it has cushion laid swings for the shoes.

Entering the exhibit, there is a giant bright lit up entrée sign, a doorway covered in red lights and the signature design of the Christian Louboutin logo in handwriting.

Hanging from the ceiling are circled mini hula hoops, with colourful and amazing shoes!

Ballet shoes with a twist

Enough of the exterior, let’s get involved! Walking in I’m confronted with a zillion red soled moulds. This looks pretty spectacular and stamps the trademark red sole that Louboutin is known for.

Shadow heels

So many shoes inside, I was drooling. Working my way round through all the designs, from a Bentley inspired shoe, Guinness heels and my favourite were the pair complete with glittery black ties on the front. The perfect accessory for a twist on a ball dress.

WARNING: Walking through the fetish room, lots and lots of shoe porn! This room has all Louboutins collection which he teamed up with David Lynch in 2007 for the exhibition ‘Fetish’. Some amazing heels which are surely just for show? The walls are covered in nudey pics.

Super high fetish shoes

This room then leads to a mixture of goodies, Miss Piggy’s shoes and the iconic mens spiked flats and glitter covered trainers. I loved these two skull glitter models that were there.

Who wants this wardrobe?

The highlight has got to be the Dita Von Teese hologram. The burlesque dancers silhouette transforms from a Louboutin shoe, to dancing on stage in corset and stockings before transforming back into a stiletto. Surrounded by glittery pixie dust, it is pretty cool! It feels like you are watching it on-screen but when you take a closer look, it’s just space and air! Unfortunately no pictures are allowed so for this one you’ll just have to go experience for yourself!

Outside they have a block lettering sign, enticing showgirl! Posing outside wearing my Zara jacket with upturned purple cuffs which match my gorgeous new Betty tights which I got sent to try. They are by Charnos and have such a daring purple colour with a gorgeous pattern that really stands out from the crowd, I definitely got a few admiring looks with these! So good for brightening up a freezing cold day in London in May (where is the sun!?) You can find Charnos on Facebook and Twitter. Best start saving for some Louboutins to wear with them ;)
